Saveiro Rocket: brings revolutionary design concept and mechanical sports

One of the vehicles that more attention should be drawn between those shown by Volkswagen at the 26th International Automobile Trade Show of Sao Paulo is the pick-up Rocket, created especially for the event by the team of designers, engineers and technicians of the Brazilian brand.

With a pearlescent white paint effect, enhanced by details in dull gray on the bottom and the high-gloss black roof, among other details, the model offers a wide red stripe running along the entire body. Thus, the front bumper to the back cover, the Rocket shows soon Saveiro its sporting aspirations, derived from the model it is based. "We chose Saveiro to create this new model because it is one of the cars most commonly used by young people to make changes," explains Luiz Veiga, managing director of Volkswagen Design.

"Create a dream car for a show like we did now, it's a fantastic job for all involved, without having to worry about details like manufacturing costs, deadlines and budget limits, you can use your imagination and make real things, a car line, would be unviable, "he adds.

Saveiro Rocket's project started from the finding that many users of compact pick-ups see their cars as sports cars of two places, one type of car that, in Brazil, is rare and usually is priced very high. From this premise, the idea was to reinforce the trend of all possible ways: outdoors in the interior and mechanical parts.

Sportsmanship explicit
The visual Saveiro Rocket is dominated throughout its length, the triple track in Tornado red paint under the varnish, which runs through the center of the front bumper to tailgate. By going through the roof, which is painted in black Ninja, almost glassy, the band takes on a dark gray tint, a faint contrast which guarantees a subtle appearance. The shark antenna on the roof, and uptake of GSM and GPS signals, helps visually with the silhouette of sports.

Up front, the upper grid is also painted in high gloss black, while the lower bumper painted matte gray Spectrus, dominated by a large honeycomb grille underlined in red by applying a bevel, a trend towards design of the new philosophy of the Volkswagen brand.

The dull gray is used around the entire underside of the car, extends from front to rear bumpers and skirts the arc of the frames of the special wheels painted in high gloss Black. The wheel 18-inch light alloy, has nine spokes and 225/40 tires.

The openings of the wheels make it clear the big brake discs with diameter 312x25mm front and 256x22mm at the rear, with red painted calipers on Tornado. The effect of the lower edge dark highlights the lower height of the suspension, which was lowered by 36mm front and 60mm rear compared to the original Saveiro.

The headlights with Xenon lamps have black masks and have automatic washers, driven in conjunction with the windshield. The windshield wipers are aerowishers type with rubber blades structural, simpler and more effective than traditional models.

At the ends of the bumper stand the daytime running lights with light strings, cords of light silicone-based material that forms a double contour emphasizing the design of the lower area and also has four helpers LEDs that light up when the wheel and dung, an innovation in Brazil.

On the sides, the Rocket Saveiro differentiates the new design of integrated SantAntonio the silhouette that refers to a sports coupe. The feeling of greater glass area is given by column B, which received painting in black high gloss.

The rear lights with external direction was highlighted with red paint on the Tornado. Under the bumper, the rear deflector, typical of sports cars and the side entrances of air painted in black, highlight the sporty model and add functionality in the direction of airflow.

The identification Rocket, positioned on the sides of the bucket, was painted by hand under the varnish layer, giving a refined appearance as the signing of a work.

One especially creative work occurred in the lid of the bucket, which brings two rebounds with integrated brakelights aligned in the direction of the banks, similar to the aerodynamic appendages used in race cars around the late 50. The top cover of the cargo compartment is rigid and has an opening for electrical control, while the door of the bucket, surrounded by the lights dimmed, opens conventionally. Just above, a spoiler painted in black high gloss finishes the car's silhouette.
