2016 - [Mahindra] XUV Aero concept

Indian company Mahindra has released a design sketch for the XUV Aero concept that will make its premiere during the Auto Expo 2016.

Indian manufacturers are increasingly trying to battle foreign automakers with new attractive models and Mahindra is preparing for the launch of the XUV Aero concept vehicle, taking the shape of a coupe-SUV. This will be the first model in that segment for the brand and it will receive its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo, scheduled to start on February 3.

What we see on the attached teaser image is a compact SUV with sporty side profile, and muscular wheel arches. Completing its look are a set of massive wheels, and an aggressive rear diffuser.

While nothing is official yet, the XAV Aero is reportedly based on the XUV 500 front-wheel drive monocoque platform. The model is created by the local design team of Mahindra, which promises the study will “reflect bold design”. The manufacturer also says it will be equipped with “all the futuristic connected technology”.

In the end of 2015 Mahindra purchased a controlling stake in the legendary design company Pininfarina. We are tempted to believe future concepts of the Indian brand will be designed by the Italian studio, but we’ll have to wait at least several months to see if this would happen.
